I received my first (film) camera as a gift for my 15th birthday (thanks, dad!) and have been in love ever since. I couldn’t wait to have my rolls of film developed, and that’s why I eventually learned to develop them myself. The darkroom at college became my sanctuary, and I learned how to mix chemicals, develop film, and create contact sheets and enlargements. I still recall the excitement of watching an image appear on the blank paper and the acrid smell of fixer in the air. I was accepted into the Corcoran College of Art + Design where I learned not only photojournalism (my BFA degree), but how to transform an image into art whether it be film, alternative processes, tintypes/ambrotypes or digital, I love it all! I’ve displayed my photography at the Corcoran Museum of Art and other galleries in D.C. and Maryland.

After working at The Capital, Maryland Gazette and Baltimore Sun for 7 years as a photojournalist and columnist, I decided to switch lanes into weddings and portraiture, and haven’t looked back! I love being able to incorporate my artistic background and editing skills, I just wish I’d started this part of my photographic journey sooner!

About Me

In going the extra mile to please our clients; from the initial meeting to the wedding day and later delivery of the gallery, I vow to be the resource, friend and documentarian you so deserve.

Weddings are the pinnacle of any romantic relationship, we don’t take it lightly when clients choose us to capture their beautiful day. I am confident that we can and will incorporate all of our artistic talent and technological prowess to create a wedding gallery you will cherish forevermore.

In happily-ever-afters, soul-mates and fairytale love! We celebrate couples who have found what my husband and I have: love that endures.

At Atalie Day Photography, We Believe...

My husband of 17 years, Jared, and our babies…Ezra (16), Ellie (5) and Jasper (2) are my world! We love visiting the grands, going on hikes with our old pup, Bert, trying out new restaurants (we’re foodies!), and cuddling on the couch to watch new Mandolorian episodes.

My Family

I started kickboxing when I was 18 years old, and reignited the flame when I was about 30. It helps me release pent-up anxiety and become a more “chill” mom. This is how I spend my “me” time.

When I’m not adulting with my kids or photographing clients (or kickboxing) I love grabbing my paddleboard and taking it out on the river. It’s a soothing way to become one with nature and appreciate some peace and quiet (yes, my kids are those kids).

I’m the most down-to-earth, non-judgmental Christian you’re likely to ever meet. I follow the principle to love others as I love myself, and I keep my faith close to my heart, so it’s not something I broadcast. I have photographed weddings of many faiths and truly respect them all.

If I were to be stranded on a desert island with one food…it would be peanut butter. I love it with just about everything, especially chocolate!

Peanut Butter

I grew up in a little town in Western Maryland, so I love the mountains (but I also equally love the beach…go figure) and am totally up for hiking to a remote location for a wedding or elopement! This is my dream client and I hope to fulfill it one day…soon!

My Favorite Things

Atalie did an incredible job capturing some fantastic moments…to say we love the way the photo shoot turned out, is an understatement! She put us at ease and worked wonders with the camera. She was so sweet and kind…I would highly recommend Atalie's talents behind the lens!

"To say we love our photos is an understatement!"

Atalie took our daughter's senior pics and captured her spirit and personality through the lens. The evening was hot and humid but she took her time and got all the shots we envisioned, even working with an unruly puppy. A family photo shoot is going to be booked next!

"Besides being one of the sweetest people I know, Atalie is an amazing photographer."

Atalie is an amazing photographer! Her final product always came out great. She photographed my maternity pictures, and my family pictures when our bundle of joy came. She was very clean and respectful with our worry of Covid. She has great ideas for poses but also has consideration for your ideas as well. I will be using her for any photography needs in the future. I would highly recommend her!

"I would highly recommend Atalie!"

Are we a match made in heaven? I sure hope so. I’m really trying to get better at this social media thing, and I’d love to connect with you!
